Part 2 : PRODUCTION

Probot uses mostly live action puppetry in our films as opposed to stop-motion, frame-by-frame animation. We like this method because it feels more like playing with toys. However this method presents many challenges to make the action figures come to life onscreen.

Simple Tricks and Nonsense. . .

With a flick of the wrist, Alec Guiness fooled us! Jedi Mind trick?
No, just a simple in-camera special effect!
Notice at the beginning of each shot,
the lightsaber blade is aimed directly at the camera, the saber ignites as he turns his wrist to reveal it !

A few match heads glued onto this stormtroopers chest make a nice little blast.

Several action figures were customized
to enable live-action puppetry such as turning heads
or moving arms.
